When you are in New York, please stop by and visit our new spacious gallery. You can browse through our inventory by computer or see any of our over 12,000 posters in person. The gallery is located conveniently between Manhattan's Soho & Little Italy neighborhoods. It is easily reachable by car or public transportation. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 to 7 and Sunday 12 to 6. We look forward to seeing you. In August, 2008 we will be closed 2 Sunday-Mondays, 8/17-18 and 8/24-25.

Subway Directions:
#6 Lexington line train to the Spring Street stop. The gallery is located 3 short blocks from this Subway stop. Walk South on the East side of Lafayette (at the square at Spring Street, this street is called Cleveland Place). Continue South on Cleveland Place which becomes Centre Street (please see map). The Gallery is halfway down the block between Broome & Grand Streets at 239 Centre Street. You will see the Old Police Building across the street.

R train to the Prince Street station. Walk south on Broadway to Broome street. Take a left at Broome and walk 3 blocks to Centre Street & make a right. You will see the beautiful Police Building across the street (home to many celebrities). The Gallery is halfway down the block at 239 Centre Street.

Lobby Cards
11x14 heavy stock paper, originally made in sets of eight. Most sets have a title card which was essentially a mini-poster with credits and artwork. The other seven "scene" cards showed different scenes from the movie.

Window Card
14x22 on heavy stock paper. These usually had a 4-6 inch blank area at the top which the theater used to put their name and sometimes the play-dates on.

1 Sheet
Approximately 27x41. The most standard size poster on thin paper stock. Polish, Swedish, Spanish, Danish & German 1 sheets were generally slightly smaller than the U.S. 1 sheet usually in the 25x39 range.

3 Sheet
41x81 on thin paper stock. These usually came in 2-3 different pieces which fit together.

6 Sheet
81x81 on thin stock paper. These usually came in 3-4 different pieces which fit together.

Door Panel
20x60 on medium paper stock. Extremely rare size of which very few have survived.

Country of Origin
Describes a poster that is the same nationality as the film. These are prized by some collectors.

Re-issue
A poster that has been printed for the release of a movie subsequent to its original release. This is designated in the database by either an "R" before the date or an "RR" if the date is unknown.

Most movie posters prior to 1990 were folded by the printer before being shipped to theaters. Some of our posters have been linen or paper-mounted. This is done to preserve and/or restore the poster. These methods are archivally sound and museum approved. We can have any poster mounted for a fee. These range from $100 and up for a one sheet; $200 and up for a three sheet or large foreign poster; and $350 and up for a six sheet. We will also recommend restorers if you'd like to have it done yourself.

Linen-backing
Linen & paper backing are techniques used to restore & archivally protect posters as well as diminish the appearance of the fold lines evident in many posters (as most were originally folded at the printer and then sent to the theatre). The poster is affixed to archival paper which is then affixed to the linen (cloth) or paper backing. The process is archival and reversible. The linen-backed posters are then shipped rolled in a tube while the paper-backed ones are shipped flat as the paper is stiff. Many of our customers as well as museums and major auction houses use the technique. With linen-backing the posters display well and they look terrific. The process generally takes 2-3 weeks. The cost begins at $50-75 for smaller posters and increases depending on size and how much restoration is necessary. We will be happy to quote the cost of backing any poster with linen or paper.

Framing
We offer full archival framing services. Feel free to call or stop in to the gallery for a quote or more information.

Condition gradings
NM Near mint: May have the slightest of wear.
Fine: May have minimal wear with possible pinholes in the borders & or slight fold wear. Minor tape on the back & very small tears are also allowable as is slight fading.
VG-Fine: In slightly more used condition than fine, but still very presentable.
Very Good: May have some fold separation, border staining or small tears, but the image is still relatively clean.
Good: Slightly below average used condition. Can use restoration but is still fairly presentable.

Orders are shipped via UPS insured, so please furnish a street address. Shipping is free for orders $100 and over. The charge is $9 for orders under $100. Gift cards are not redeemable online. They are redeemable three ways: in person at the gallery, calling or sending an email to mail@posteritati.com. The actual card is not necessary for redemption, all gift card information is kept on file and is updated when they are redeemed. The gift card recipient would just need to give their name as it is on the card.
